When troubled users connect their PS5 to the TV, they may encounter several problems. They could see a black screen with a “No Input” message on the HDMI  channel, which means that the device is not receiving any video input. Secondly, there is a chance that you might see a blurry, fuzzy picture on the screen or distorted audio quality. Thirdly, the console may display a blue light for an extended period when turned on and connected to a display before shutting off on its own. It is known as the “Blue Light of Death” and usually indicates an internal hardware issue.

All of these indicate a fault HDMI port, and here in this article, we will look at what we can do to fix it.

But before we get to the solutions for the HDMI port, you first need to identify that the problem is valid with the port and not with the cable itself.

To check the cable, use it with another device, like a laptop, and check whether the output shows up correctly or not. If the video works fine now, the problem is definitely with the port, and you can move on with the solutions. However, if the video does not work even with the laptop, you should get a different cable. If for some reason, even the new cable does not work, then the issue could be with the HDMI port on your TV. In such a scenario, you need to contact the customer care support of your TV’s manufacturer.

Inspect the PS5’s and HDTV’s HDMI ports:

More often than not, the problem with ports is mainly caused due to dirt accumulated over time. Even with smartphone charging ports, people have been able to fix them simply by cleaning them up.

So get yourself some isopropyl alcohol, completely power off the PS5 and HDTV, and then use a Q-tip to wipe the ports on both devices. Thoroughly clean the HDMI ports on both the machines and once it is done, turn on both the devices again and check if the HDMI works now or not.

Try the following solution mentioned below if you still encounter the same problems with the HDMI.

Disable HDR:

The HDR setting on the PS5 can cause issues with some TV models. It may lead to some screen flickering issues on the TV. So if you have it turned on, it would be best to turn it off and then try connecting again.
