In case you don’t know what is recovery, the first thing the bootloader rings up is the recovery. Recovery Mode refers to a special bootable partition, which contains a recovery application installed in it. And you can fix some problems with your phone.

Samsung Galaxy S20 series is the latest premium and flagship smartphone from Samsung. Samsung unveiled the Galaxy S20 series i.e., Galaxy S20, S20 Plus and S20 Ultra as its latest flagship family at the Galaxy Unpacked 2020 event in San Francisco, California. The Galaxy S20 series ships with Qualcomm’s latest Snapdragon 865 chipset, which features more powerful image processing, a new fifth-generation AI Engine, better power efficiency, basically everything you could ask for in a mobile processor.

What is Recovery Mode?

he first thing the bootloader rings up is the recovery. Recovery Mode refers to a special bootable partition, which contains a recovery application installed in it. It allows users to fix some problems on their phones or tablets. It may be useful if you notice that your device is not acting right.

The Recovery Menu

There is a pretty long(not that long) list of things that can be done in a recovery menu. Different smartphones can have different recovery menu, some of the common things are listed below:

Reboot system: as the term itself suggests it will restart the device normally.

Apply update from ADB: the ADB or Android Debug Bridge helps the user to connect the Android device to a computer. This feature is designed for Android developers, and therefore requires the Android SDK (Software Development Kit) to be installed on the computer.

Apply from external storage: this will actually allow users to update the system from the OTA file which is present in the external storage.

Wipe data from / factory reset: this will wipe the data and the cache partition, and reset the device to its initial factory settings.

Wipe cache partition: this will wipe all data from the cache partition. The cache partition is a partition in the drive, which is used as a memory, to temporarily store data.

Enter Recovery Mode on Samsung Galaxy S20 Series

  • Turn off your phone.
  • Once it is turned off. Press and hold the power/Bixby and volume down button simultaneously until the Android logo pops up.
  • When the green Android logo displays, release both buttons.
  • The Recovery screen menu will now appear

That was all. That was the simple way to enter recovery mode on Samsung Galaxy S20/S20+/S20 Ultra.
