The lollipop devices will get the Google Assistant soon, the same way as the marshmallow devices got. It will be made available through the Google play services. Smartphones running lollipop 5.0/5.1 and tablets running marshmallow 6.0 will be eligible for getting this feature. But not all devices will be getting it as there is an eligibility criterion created by Google.

  • The devices from countries like USA, UK, India, Australia, Canada, and Singapore need the language to be set to English

  • Devices from countries like Italy, Japan, Germany, Brazil, and Korea can have any regional language settings
  • The Google play services and the Google app should be updated to the latest version

  • Download and install the latest Google app from here
  • open settings

  • Select English (United States)

  • Select all languages except the English (United States)
  • Tap on the trash icon to delete
  • Now go back to settings again
